PETER OBI’S MOVE TO DUMP ADC COULD END HIS CAREER — PARTY YOUTHS WARN
A youth group within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sounded a strong warning to former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, cautioning that his alleged plans to dump the ADC coalition could spell the end of his political career.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Comrade Abayomi Bello, who spoke for the ADC Youth Vanguard, the group expressed deep concern over reports that Obi might leave if he fails to clinch the party’s presidential ticket.
“We doubt that Mr. Tanko actually has Peter Obi’s mandate to say what he said,” the statement read.
“But if it’s true that Obi is considering leaving, it would be a terrible mistake.”
The group argued that Obi has built his reputation on principles like integrity, youth empowerment, and putting Nigeria first — values they believe would be undermined if he quits the coalition merely for personal political ambition.
They also reminded Nigerians that Peter Obi has a history of jumping from one political party to another, moving from APGA to PDP to Labour Party, and now possibly exiting ADC. According to them, this could eventually make people see him as just another politician chasing personal interests.
“Coalitions take patience, teamwork, and sacrifice,” they said. “If Mr. Obi leaves ADC too quickly, he could lose the trust of his supporters, weaken important alliances, and disappoint young Nigerians who are already tired of divided opposition.”
Instead, the youth group advised Obi to stay put, guide the party from within, and mentor younger leaders.
“That’s how true legacies are built. Anything else risks pushing him into political isolation,” the statement concluded.
As the political scene continues to heat up ahead of the next election cycle, all eyes will be on Peter Obi to see whether he stays the course with ADC or makes yet another switch that could reshape his future.
