PETER OBI: NIGERIA CAN’T WORK IF CORRUPTION RUNS THE GOVERNMENT
Former Anambra governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, says Nigeria will never progress while corruption and crime control the nation’s leadership.
In a post on X, Obi said hunger and poverty are now everyday problems for millions of Nigerians—not just numbers in a report.
Citing United Nations data, he warned that 34 million people may face severe hunger and 133 million—over half the population—are living in deep poverty.
He blamed the crisis on leaders without “capacity and compassion”, saying inflation is nearly 30%, unemployment is high, and the once-strong middle class is disappearing.
Obi called for disciplined leadership, smart economic policies, and a real commitment to lifting people out of poverty.
