PENGASSAN BEGINS STRIKE, ORDERS MEMBERS TO WITHDRAW SERVICES
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has announced the commencement of a nationwide strike.
According to a statement issued after its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Saturday, the Association directed all members in offices, companies, institutions, and agencies to withdraw their services beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Ahead of the strike, PENGASSAN instructed members stationed at various field locations—including control room operations, panel operations, and outfield personnel—to down tools starting at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025, while holding a continuous prayer vigil.
The Association noted that the prayer vigil seeks divine intervention, urging those in authority to compel Dangote and associates to comply with Nigerian laws.
During the strike period, PENGASSAN emphasized that no intervention would be permitted at field locations, except in cases where personnel safety or asset protection is at stake, and such clearance must come from the National Secretariat.
It further directed that all processes involving gas and crude oil supply to the Dangote Refinery be discontinued immediately.
“All PENGASSAN members across offices, companies, institutions, and agencies should withdraw their services effective 12:01 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025.
All IOC branches must also ramp down gas production and suspend supply to Dangote Refinery and petrochemicals,” the statement read.
The Association added: “Our prayer points should include asking God Almighty to grant courage to those in authority to ensure Dangote and his associates obey the laws of our nation. No individual is bigger than the country. An injury to one is an injury to all.”
