PENCOM STRENGTHENS CYBERSECURITY TO PROTECT PENSION RECORDS
The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has stepped up efforts to safeguard pensioners’ records against rising cyber threats, introducing enhanced security protocols across the Contributory Pension Scheme.
The Commission disclosed that it is collaborating with relevant agencies and cybersecurity experts to strengthen data protection systems and prevent unauthorised access to sensitive retirement savings information. PenCom emphasised that protecting contributors’ funds and personal data remains a top priority amid increasing digital risks.
Officials urged Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) to adopt robust cybersecurity frameworks, conduct regular audits, and train staff on emerging threats. The move is part of broader reforms to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the pension industry.
Stakeholders welcomed the initiative, noting that a secure pension system is critical for maintaining public confidence and the long-term sustainability of the scheme. Experts also called for continuous investment in technology and capacity building to stay ahead of sophisticated cyber attacks.
PenCom assured pensioners and contributors that their savings are safe and that the Commission remains vigilant in protecting the sector from digital vulnerabilities.
