PDP SETS DATE FOR ZONING COMMITTEE INAUGURATION AHEAD OF 2025 CONVENTION
PDP to Inaugurate Zoning Committee August 14 as Party Gears Up for 2025 Convention
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced the date for the inauguration of its Zoning Committee ahead of the much-anticipated 2025 Elective National Convention.
In a statement shared on the party’s verified X (formerly Twitter) account and signed by the PDP National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar M. Bature, the inauguration is set to take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the NEC Hall, Wadata Plaza, Abuja. The event will commence at noon.
The PDP leadership extended an open invitation to its governors, members of the Board of Trustees (BOT), National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC), serving and former National Assembly members, and other key party stakeholders.
Describing the inauguration as a "noble event", the party urged all members and supporters to actively participate as it begins what it called “the journey of restoring the nation.”
The zoning of party positions and potentially the presidential ticket will be a major focus in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. The formation of this committee marks a critical first step in shaping the PDP's internal structure and political strategy moving forward.
As Nigeria’s main opposition party prepares for its next big political move, all eyes will be on how the zoning process unfolds and what signals it sends ahead of 2027.
