PDP CANDIDATE DEFECTS TO APC AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTION

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Ibadan North-East State Constituency 2 in the 2027 general elections, Hammed Ademola, has defected to the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State.

Ademola, popularly known as Lucky, joined the APC on Friday alongside Accord aspirant Adedapo Ojo and more than 3,000 supporters.

Ademola said his decision followed his assessment of the political situation in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ojo also announced his decision to leave Accord and join the APC, saying he had changed his political position after assessing the prospects of the parties in the state.

Receiving the defectors, Oyo APC Chairman Moses Alake-Adeyemo assured them of equal opportunities within the party and urged them to contribute to its activities ahead of the election.

The party’s governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, also welcomed the new members and outlined some of his proposed plans, including improved payment of salaries and allowances and the establishment of ICT hubs across the state.

The defections add to the political realignments taking place in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
