PALMPAY ADDS EXTRA SECURITY FOR NIGHT TRANSFERS

PalmPay has introduced NightGuard, a new security feature that requires customers to complete an additional verification step when making transfers during selected overnight hours.

The feature is available through PalmPay’s upgraded Security Centre and allows users to set a protection window between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Transfer attempts made during the selected period will require additional verification before they can be completed.

PalmPay said the measure is aimed at giving customers greater control over the security of their accounts, particularly during periods when unusual transactions may be less likely to be noticed.

The company said digital payment users continue to face risks including scams, impersonation and unauthorised access to accounts.

Head of Marketing, PalmPay Nigeria, Femi Hanson, said the feature provides an additional layer of protection in situations where a phone may be lost or compromised.

NightGuard is part of the security tools available through PalmPay’s Security Centre. The company also said customer education remains an important part of its efforts to improve digital payment security.

Unlike a security measure that applies to every transfer, the feature allows customers to choose when the additional verification should be required.
