OYO LAUNCHES DIGITAL LAND REGISTRY TO BOOST TRANSPARENCY

The Oyo State Government has launched a digital land registry and related platforms to enhance transparency, efficiency, and investor confidence in land administration.

The initiative includes the digitisation of Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) and an online property title search platform, which has already digitalised over 438,000 property records for public access.

Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo, described the reforms as a major step towards eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks and reducing risks of errors or unofficial practices. The system allows remote applications and processing of approvals from anywhere in the world.

Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration emphasised that the digital platforms align with its commitment to leveraging technology for better public service delivery and simplifying property transactions.

Stakeholders believe the move will minimise disputes, boost tax compliance, and attract more investments into real estate and urban development across the state.
