The Oyo State House of Assembly has rejected any proposal for negotiation with terrorist groups, reaffirming its support for a security-first approach in addressing insecurity in Oyo.

Lawmakers made the position known during plenary, stressing that the government should not engage in dialogue with armed groups responsible for violence, kidnappings, and attacks on communities.

The Assembly also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his handling of security matters in the state, particularly ongoing efforts to protect residents and strengthen collaboration with security agencies.

They urged security operatives to intensify surveillance and intelligence gathering to prevent further incidents and ensure the safe rescue of abducted victims in affected areas.

The lawmakers emphasized that restoring public confidence requires firm action against criminal elements rather than negotiation.

The resolution comes amid heightened security concerns across parts of Nigeria, with recent abductions sparking widespread public debate on the best approach to tackling insecurity.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
