OYEBANJI SWEARS IN SSG, CHIEF OF STAFF FOR SECOND TERM
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has sworn in the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, and Chief of Staff, Oyeniyi Adebayo, following their reappointment for his second term in office.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti, where Oyebanji charged the two officials with improving service delivery and meeting the expectations of residents.
The governor said their reappointments came with greater responsibilities, warning that his second-term administration would have less tolerance for lapses because both officials were already familiar with their duties and the workings of the government.
Oyebanji described Adubiaro and Adebayo as trusted members of his administration who had contributed to its operations during his first term. He urged them to draw on their experience, remain committed to their responsibilities, and begin work without delay.
He also cautioned the officials against becoming complacent or overconfident, stressing the need for diligence, discipline and accountability as the administration begins another four-year term.
According to the governor, the SSG and Chief of Staff are his personal choices and among his closest administrative aides, unlike commissioners and special advisers, who may be nominated by stakeholders.
Oyebanji said the two officials would face additional pressure in the coming weeks as they provide administrative support and help manage government operations pending the constitution of a full cabinet.
He also reminded them that their positions came from the mandate given to the administration by the people of Ekiti State, urging them to treat residents with respect, humility and compassion.
“Treat our people with courtesy; be compassionate, humble, fair and God-fearing. It is their votes that brought us here. So, by extension, they are our employer,” the governor said.
Adubiaro, speaking on behalf of the two officials, thanked Oyebanji for renewing his confidence in them and pledged their commitment to the administration’s work.
The swearing-in followed Oyebanji’s inauguration for a second term on October 16, 2026. On October 17, the governor announced the reappointment of Adubiaro as SSG, Adebayo as Chief of Staff, and Olayinka Oyebode as Chief Press Secretary.
The three officials held the same positions during the governor’s first term. Their retention marks the first appointments announced by Oyebanji since beginning his second term.
