OYEBANJI RESUMES, BEGINS SECOND-TERM PREPARATIONS

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has resumed official duties after completing a two-week annual leave, with preparations for the start of his second term now gathering pace.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, announced his resumption in a statement on Sunday, saying Oyebanji returned to work with renewed energy after the statutory leave.

Oyebode said the governor continued to attend to important governance and administrative matters while away from the office.

Oyebanji was re-elected in the June 20 governorship election after defeating candidates from 13 other political parties. He secured 319,224 votes, winning in all 16 local government areas of the state.

His victory made him the first sitting governor in Ekiti State to win immediate re-election for a second term.

The governor’s first tenure is expected to end on October 15, with his second term scheduled to begin on October 16.

Oyebanji had previously said his renewed mandate would allow his administration to build on its achievements in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and investment.

With his return to office, attention is now shifting towards the transition into the second term and the programmes his administration plans to pursue over the next four years.
