OYEBANJI CELEBRATES FORMER PDP CANDIDATE BISI KOLAWOLE AT 70

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated former Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state, Chief Bisi Kolawole, on his 70th birthday. In a message issued through his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor described Kolawole as a prominent Ekiti indigene who had contributed to the development of the state through his political and public service career.

Oyebanji highlighted Kolawole’s previous roles as a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and Commissioner for Environment. Kolawole represented Efon Constituency in the state assembly between 2007 and 2011 before serving as Commissioner for Environment from 2015 to 2018. The governor said his contributions to public service reflected his involvement in the political and administrative development of Ekiti.

The governor also recalled Kolawole’s participation in the 2022 Ekiti governorship election, when he contested as the PDP candidate. Oyebanji described the campaign as issue-based and said Kolawole conducted himself with maturity during the election period. He further noted that Kolawole later congratulated him after the election and chose to support the administration rather than challenge the result at the election tribunal.

Oyebanji also pointed to Kolawole’s continued involvement in national politics, particularly his election as Deputy National Secretary of the PDP. According to the governor, the position reflects the former governorship candidate’s continued relevance within the party and Nigerian political space. He described Kolawole as a democrat and called on politicians to draw lessons from his approach to political engagement.

The governor wished Kolawole good health, long life and fulfilment as he marks his 70th birthday. He said Kolawole’s contributions to Ekiti State and Nigeria should continue in the years ahead and expressed his appreciation for the former PDP candidate’s years of public service and political participation.
