The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents of Oworonshoki and other parts of Lagos of their safety following reports of a planned protest by some youths on the Third Mainland Bridge.

In a statement released early Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the police confirmed that security operatives have been deployed to key locations across the state to prevent any disruption of public peace.

“The Command is aware of information circulating regarding a planned disruption on the Third Mainland Bridge by some youths in the Oworonshoki area,” Adebisi said.

She explained that officers have been fully mobilised to safeguard road users, maintain the free flow of traffic, and protect lives and property. The move, according to her, is part of proactive efforts to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the metropolis.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to go about their lawful activities without fear and to cooperate with security personnel carrying out their duties,” the statement added.

Adebisi also urged residents to remain calm, assuring that the Command has adopted “robust security measures” to promptly address any emerging threat.

The Lagos Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace, safety, and the smooth movement of vehicles across all major routes, especially around the Third Mainland Bridge — one of the busiest corridors in the state.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or movement to nearby police officers or through the Command’s emergency hotlines.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
