OWA OBOKUN BANS LAND GRABBING ACTIVITIES IN IJESALAND
The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has officially banned all land grabbing activities within Ijesaland, warning that anyone caught harassing land developers in the name of Omo Onile will face strict legal consequences.
The monarch made the pronouncement during the inauguration of the Ijesa Development Fund at Obokungbusi Hall, Ilesa — an initiative designed to promote infrastructure, unity, and economic growth across Ijesaland.
Expressing frustration over the growing menace of Omo Onile (land grabbers), Oba Haastrup described their activities as a threat to peace and progress, noting that their unlawful demands discourage investors and stall community development.
“The time has come to put an end to this disgraceful practice. Any person posing as Omo Onile to extort money or disrupt development projects must be stopped and made to face the law,” the monarch declared.
He directed Ijesa indigenes to apprehend any individual caught in the act and hand them over to relevant authorities for prosecution.
The royal father also called on Obas, Chiefs, and community leaders to collaborate with him in restoring the region’s peace and protecting genuine developers from intimidation.
“Development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of lawlessness. Let us unite to make Ijesaland safe and welcoming for investors,” he said.
Oba Haastrup reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring sustainable development, urging unity, discipline, and respect for the rule of law as the foundation for Ijesaland’s transformation.
