The stage is set for one of Nigeria’s biggest youth tennis events as over 200 players, aged between 12 and 16, gear up for the third edition of the Gbolahan Odele Age Group Tennis Tournament.

Organized by Badejo Sports, the competition will take place at the iconic Adejumo Tennis Sports Centre from Monday, August 18 to Saturday. Boys and girls will battle it out in the U-12, U-14, and U-16 categories, showcasing the country’s rising tennis talent.

Tournament sponsor, Chief Gbolahan Odele, expressed his excitement, saying the event is about more than just winning. “It has always been a joy to see young people connect and compete in an atmosphere of love and fair play. This tournament is also a platform to discover future champions for Nigeria,” he said.

This year’s edition comes with a special twist — players will compete for Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) points, opening doors for them to feature in global junior tennis circuits. Tournament Director, Coach Dele Badejo, promised a top-notch event. “We expect a higher standard than last year and are ready to deliver a smooth competition,” he said.

In last year’s edition, David Edwards claimed the U-16 Boys title, while Goodness Aina emerged champion in the U-16 Girls category. All eyes will be on who takes the crown this year.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
