OSUN TRAGEDY: MAN KILLED BY MOB AFTER MACHETE ATTACK ON THREE CHILDREN
A tragic and heartbreaking incident has rocked the Ese Ola area of Oba-Ile community in Osun State, after a man allegedly killed three innocent siblings in cold blood on Tuesday evening.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Sodiq Eniola, reportedly stormed into the home of Ganiyu Bamidele around 8:05 p.m., where the children were asleep in their mother’s shop. Witnesses say Eniola, believed to be battling mental health issues and drug addiction, went into a violent frenzy.
Without saying a word, he allegedly pulled out a machete and launched a brutal attack on the sleeping children, killing them on the spot.
“He didn’t say anything to anyone. He just walked in and began cutting the children with a machete. Before we could react, it was too late,” said a devastated Bamidele, the children’s father.
As the community raised an alarm, angry residents quickly overpowered Eniola and beat him mercilessly before the police arrived. Although officers from the Oba-Ile Police Division tried to rescue him and rushed him to a nearby hospital, he died from the injuries he sustained.
The lifeless bodies of the children have been taken to the morgue, as the community continues to mourn the horrific loss.
Spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident, stating:
“This is a deeply distressing case. Preliminary findings suggest the suspect may have been under the influence of drugs. A full investigation is underway.”
The tragedy has sparked calls for increased mental health awareness, substance abuse interventions, and tighter community safety measures.
