OSUN STATE POLICE COMMAND DECLARES FACTIONAL NURTW LEADER NURUDEEN ALOWONLE WANTED OVER MURDER OF TRANSPORT RIVAL
Command intensifies manhunt for union chieftains following arrests of key suspects and security operatives implicated in fatal motor park violence
The Osun State Police Command has formally declared a factional chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Nurudeen Alowonle, wanted in connection with the murder of transport union figure Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir.
Announcing the directive in Osogbo, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, said law enforcement agencies are actively hunting for Alowonle, along with another prominent suspect, Adeyemi Ojo, alias Sibi, and several accomplices who remain at large.
Police investigations into the fatal violent clash led to the arrest of Waliu Adejare, also known as Jay Jay, who serves as a personal assistant to Alowonle, as well as four operatives attached to the Osun State Security Network Agency, commonly known as Amotekun, who were assigned to provide security detail.
According to the police command, suspect confessions and ballistic evidence gathered from the scene established that missing factional leaders mobilized armed individuals to attack a disputed takeover attempt at a local transport terminal.
Commissioner Zungura assured the public that police operatives, in close collaboration with sister security agencies, will track down all fleeing suspects to ensure full accountability under the law while maintaining peace and public order across Osun State.
