The Osun State Polytechnic, Iree Alumni Association has announced plans to build a 1,500-capacity amphitheatre as part of efforts to enhance infrastructure at the institution.

Yakub Adebayo, the National President of the association, revealed that the project is part of a broader N965 million development plan scheduled to begin in early 2026. He noted that the amphitheatre alone will cost N890 million, while an additional N75 million has been earmarked for the construction of a new gate for the polytechnic.

Adebayo made the announcement on Wednesday during the unveiling of activities for the association’s 31st anniversary at its secretariat in Iree, Osun State, describing the milestone as a celebration of resilience, unity, and progress.

He highlighted the evolution of the association from a small network of graduates into a dynamic body connecting professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders across Nigeria and beyond.

Commending Osun State Polytechnic, established in 1991, for its pivotal role in advancing technical and vocational education, Adebayo said:

"A major highlight of this year’s celebration is the launch of the multi-million-naira 1,500-capacity Alumni Amphitheatre and the new School Gate Project — a bold symbol of our commitment to supporting infrastructure and enriching the learning environment at our alma mater."

He added, "As we mark 31 years of shared history and achievements, we reaffirm our dedication to shaping the future of technical and vocational education in Nigeria. OSPAA will continue to be a strong pillar for Osun State Polytechnic, Iree — promoting academic excellence, infrastructural growth, mentorship, and opportunities for students and alumni alike."

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
