The Nigerian Correctional Service, Osun State Command, has assured personnel deployed for the August 15 governorship election that their election duty allowances will be paid.

The assurance followed concerns over delays in the payment of allowances to security personnel who participated in the Osun governorship poll.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Joel Oyedokun, said the Controller of Corrections in the state was working to ensure that all outstanding allowances due to personnel were paid.

He explained that the payments include allowances expected from both the Federal Government and the Osun State Government.

The command said the necessary administrative processes were still being concluded and urged affected personnel to remain patient.

The delay affected personnel from several security and emergency agencies deployed for the election, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and Nigerian Correctional Service.

The development followed reports that some personnel who participated in the election had yet to receive their allowances despite completing their assigned duties.

The NSCDC also attributed delays in its payments to the verification of details submitted by personnel deployed for the poll, saying some affected officers had already started receiving their money.

The Correctional Service assured its personnel that the outstanding payments would be made once the required processes were completed.

The command thanked its personnel for their patience and understanding and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that those who participated in the election receive their legitimate allowances.
