OSUN POLL: APC WON’T RUSH TO CONGRATULATE ADELEKE – CAMPAIGN DG
The All Progressives Congress campaign team in Osun State has said it will not rush to congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke following his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
The Director-General of the APC governorship campaign, Oluwole Oke, said the party was still reviewing the election results before deciding on its next course of action.
Oke made the position known during an interview with Arise News, saying the campaign team wanted to examine the records and assess the conduct of the election before making a formal response.
He explained that President Bola Tinubu’s decision to congratulate Adeleke was separate from the position of the APC campaign team, which was directly involved in the election and was reviewing events on the ground.
According to Oke, the campaign team does not agree with the declaration of Adeleke as the winner and believes further examination of the results is necessary.
The position comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner of the poll.
Oke said the party would determine its next steps after completing its review of the election records.
He maintained that the APC campaign team would not allow itself to be pressured into congratulating the governor before concluding its assessment.
The development comes amid political reactions following the Osun election and renewed discussions over the conduct and outcome of the poll.
The APC is expected to announce its next course of action after reviewing the available election records.
