OSUN POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH OF SECURITY GUARD FOUND LIFELESS AT WORKPLACE
The Osun State Police Command has begun investigating the mysterious death of a security guard, identified as Basiru Aminu, who was discovered lifeless at his duty post in the Oke Ola area of Igbaye, Osun State.
According to local sources, Aminu’s body was found around 7 a.m. on Tuesday by residents who quickly notified the authorities.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abiodun Ojelabi, stated that preliminary checks showed no signs of violence on the deceased.
“It seems to be a sudden, natural death. The incident happened at Oke Ola in Igbaye, where the deceased, who worked as a security guard, was found dead early this morning. One Fasasi Adebowale informed the deceased’s brother about the situation,” Ojelabi said.
“The matter was promptly reported to the police. Our officers visited the location, examined the body, and found no indication of physical assault. However, investigations are ongoing, and an autopsy may be carried out to determine the exact cause of death,” he added.
The discovery of Aminu’s body reportedly sparked panic and speculation among residents. While some suspected foul play, others believed he might have died from a sudden health complication.
A trader in the area, who preferred to remain anonymous, said she was among the first to arrive at the scene.
“We found him lying motionless and immediately alerted the police. They later took his body away. It’s a sad situation, and people are saying different things about what might have happened,” she said.
Another resident, identified simply as Risikat, who claimed to know the deceased personally, expressed confidence that the police investigation would uncover the truth.
“I believe the police will find out what really happened. It could be a health-related issue, but we’ll wait for the investigation to conclude,” she said.
The police have assured that the findings of the investigation will be made public once completed.
