Osun Osogbo Festival: Police Promise Safe and Peaceful Celebration

As excitement builds for the grand finale of the 2025 Osun Osogbo Festival, the Osun State Police Command has assured residents and visitors of maximum security throughout the celebration.

The grand finale, scheduled for Friday, August 8, 2025, is expected to attract thousands of tourists, cultural enthusiasts, and dignitaries from within Nigeria and around the world. Known for its rich cultural heritage, the Osun Osogbo Festival is a yearly highlight in Nigeria’s cultural calendar.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, the command stated that comprehensive security arrangements are already in place to ensure the safety of everyone attending the event.

“The Osun State Police Command has deployed tactical teams, additional personnel, and logistical support to key areas across Osogbo,” the statement read.

It also disclosed that Mobile Police units will remain on standby to respond to any emergencies or disruptions during the festivities.

CP Gotan urged parents and guardians to monitor their children and warn them against engaging in any form of violence, including hooliganism, thuggery, or gangsterism.

“Anyone caught with weapons or involved in any violent act will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement warned.

To further strengthen community safety, the police are asking members of the public to report any suspicious activity. Dedicated phone lines for the Control Room and Complaint Response Unit (CRU) have been provided for this purpose.
