Local government chairmen in Osun State, under the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, have donated 300 motorcycles to security agencies to boost operations across the state.

The donation was received by the Nigeria Police Force in Osogbo, with the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, commending the initiative.

He noted that the motorcycles would improve mobility, especially in hard-to-reach and rural areas, enhancing response time and patrol effectiveness.

Gotan also praised Bola Tinubu for granting financial autonomy to local governments, which he said made such interventions possible.

According to the ALGON chairman in the state, Samuel Idowu, each of the 30 local government areas will receive 10 motorcycles, distributed among the police, DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, vigilantes, hunters, and community security groups.

He explained that the initiative aims to strengthen community policing and ensure no area is left vulnerable.

However, the move comes amid political tension, as the Osun State Government and the All Progressives Congress remain divided over the legitimacy of the local government chairmen involved in the donation.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
