The Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, has announced plans to reclaim a parcel of land belonging to the institution but currently occupied by the Ministry of Water Resources.

This was revealed in a statement signed by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Omoyeni, and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Tuesday.

According to Omoyeni, the decision was part of key resolutions reached during the Governing Council’s meeting held recently at the College premises. The Council also resolved to initiate the process of upgrading the College from a monotechnic to a polytechnic status.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Abayomi Adegoke, reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to the growth and transformation of the College. He emphasized that the institution must continue to uphold its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading health training centers.

Adegoke stated, “We must all join hands to ensure the growth of this great institution. That is the mandate given to us by the Governor, and we must strive to achieve it as soon as possible.”

He further disclosed that the Council had resolved to reclaim the land being occupied by the Ministry of Water Resources, describing it as a strategic asset that could significantly boost the College’s internally generated revenue (IGR) once properly utilized.

“Let’s begin to set every necessary machinery in motion to reclaim the portion of land that belongs to our College,” he said, adding that the land holds huge economic potential for the institution.

The Chairman also called for the recruitment of a Chief Security Officer to strengthen the College’s security architecture.

In his remarks, the Provost, Dr. Lateef Olarewaju, pledged the management’s full support in executing the Council’s resolutions and achieving the institution’s development goals.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
