Osun APC Says Notice for Tinubu Campaign Council Launch Was Too Short

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has criticised the short notice given for the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu’s campaign council in the state.

The event was scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the Oasis Event Centre in Osogbo, with Governor Ademola Adeleke serving as the state campaign coordinator.

Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, said party leaders learnt about the council’s membership through social media. He argued that giving them less than 12 hours’ notice left little time to prepare or adjust existing commitments.

According to Lawal, the timing made it difficult for some leaders who might otherwise have attended to participate. He also raised concerns about relying on information circulating online without proper communication.

The proposed council brings together politicians from the APC, Accord and Peoples Democratic Party to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Prominent APC figures named in the council include former governors Bisi Akande and Gboyega Oyetola, former APC National Secretary Iyiola Omisore and current National Secretary Ajibola Basiru.

The disagreement adds to earlier concerns within the Osun APC about how Tinubu’s campaign should be organised. The party had previously warned against parallel campaign structures and called for coordination through its leadership.

As preparations for the 2027 election continue, the dispute highlights the need for consultation among the different political groups backing the President.
