The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has expressed concern over recent killings in the state and called on the government and security agencies to strengthen efforts to protect residents.

In a statement signed by the party’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, on Saturday, the APC said the renewed incidents were worrying and urged the state government to take steps to prevent further loss of lives.

The party also appealed to the police and other security agencies to intensify their operations and ensure that those responsible for violent incidents are brought to justice.

The APC’s statement followed the death of two people in Osogbo on Friday. The Osun State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying it was suspected to be linked to a clash involving rival cult groups.

Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi said two people died while four others sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. He added that the Commissioner of Police had directed tactical teams to apprehend those responsible.

The APC urged the state government to work with security agencies to improve the protection of lives and property across Osun.

The party said continued violence could affect public confidence in the state and called for stronger measures to address insecurity.
