OSUN 2026: ADELEKE CAMPAIGN RAISES BVAS, PVC CONCERNS

As preparations for the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election gather momentum, the re-election campaign of Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed serious concerns over the functionality and readiness of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The campaign, in a statement issued on Tuesday, warned that technical hitches with BVAS machines and delays in PVC distribution could undermine the credibility of the polls if not urgently addressed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“While we commend INEC’s past efforts, we cannot ignore reports of faulty BVAS units and the slow pace of voter card collection across local government areas. These issues must be resolved to guarantee free, fair, and transparent elections,” the statement read.

Governor Adeleke’s team urged INEC to intensify voter education, accelerate PVC issuance, and conduct thorough testing of BVAS equipment ahead of the election.

Political observers believe the concerns reflect growing tensions as major parties intensify strategies for the keenly contested race. INEC has assured stakeholders of its commitment to deploying credible electoral tools for the 2026 polls.

The Adeleke campaign vowed to continue engaging INEC while mobilising massive support for the governor’s re-election bid.
