Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen is set to captain the Super Eagles in Sunday’s 2026 World Cup playoff clash against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Wilfred Ndidi will be absent due to a one-match suspension, following a booking in Nigeria’s 4-1 semi-final victory over Gabon.

Osimhen, who scored twice in that semi-final, faces his own disciplinary risk after receiving a yellow card for removing his shirt during his extra-time goal celebration. A further booking in the final could see him suspended for the next match.

Head coach Eric Chelle will be relying on Osimhen’s scoring prowess once again as Nigeria aims to secure a place in the intercontinental playoffs.
