OSIMHEN PRAISES TEAMMATES AFTER SUPER EAGLES’ 4-1 WIN OVER GABON IN WCQ PLAYOFFS
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has lauded his teammates for their support and motivation following Nigeria’s 4-1 victory over Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff semi-final on Thursday in Morocco.
The Galatasaray forward redeemed himself in extra time after missing a late opportunity to secure the win earlier in the match. He then went on to score twice, helping Nigeria advance to the World Cup qualifying playoff final, where they will face DR Congo on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters after the match in Rabat, Osimhen highlighted the importance of mutual support among teammates.
“For me, it’s important to have teammates who motivate you, even when you are the one who usually motivates others,” he said. “When you are down, they do everything to bring you back up. So for me, kudos to them.”
Osimhen’s brace not only secured Nigeria’s place in the final playoff but also reinforced his reputation as one of the country’s most lethal forwards. Fans will be hoping the striker continues his goal-scoring form as the Super Eagles prepare to take on DR Congo.
With the win, Nigeria keeps their dream of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup alive, and the team will look to build on this strong performance in the final playoff showdown.
