OSHIOMHOLE MOCKS OPPOSITION CRISIS, SAYS ATIKU IS APC’S ‘BEST CAMPAIGN MANAGER’
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has claimed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is unknowingly helping the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the former Edo State governor said internal disagreements among opposition figures have already weakened their chances against the APC.
Oshiomhole argued that ongoing criticisms and exchanges between major opposition politicians could eventually work in favour of President Bola Tinubu and the ruling party.
According to him, Atiku has effectively become the APC’s “best campaign manager” because of his alleged attacks on former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
The senator also pointed to recent political exchanges involving former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, claiming opposition leaders are more focused on attacking one another than presenting alternatives to Nigerians.
“You mean that APC would be worried about which of the parties now… ADC? I saw Atiku. Atiku is now our best campaign manager because he is attacking Obi, and I see Obi attacking Amaechi,” Oshiomhole said.
He further mocked Amaechi’s political comments about other opposition figures, suggesting the former minister had failed to demonstrate his own grassroots political strength.
“I see Amaechi say Obi is a regional player, Atiku is a regional player, and he is the only national player, but he didn’t tell us what his ward unit looks like,” he added.
Oshiomhole expressed confidence that the APC would comfortably retain power in 2027 regardless of any coalition or alliance formed by opposition parties.
According to him, opposition leaders have failed to convince Nigerians that they possess better alternatives to the current administration’s economic policies.
He challenged them to clearly state which of President Tinubu’s reforms they would reverse if elected into power.
“So, the opposition can have their dreams, but they will be defeated flatly because nobody believes them. They have to speak to the new policies that they would reverse, whether they would reverse taxation, reverse fuel subsidy removal, student loans, or reverse any of those bold decisions that President Tinubu has taken,” he stated.
The senator also accused opposition politicians of being united mainly by ambition and the desire to regain power rather than by clear policy direction.
He defended Tinubu’s administration, arguing that the president had taken difficult but necessary decisions aimed at restructuring and stabilising Nigeria’s economy.
The remarks come amid growing political realignments and early positioning by major political figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
