Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has shed light on why he no longer wears his trademark khaki outfits to the Senate.

The former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, known for his signature khaki during his labour activism days and as Edo State governor, revealed that the change is not a matter of personal choice but a requirement of the chamber.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, Oshiomhole disclosed that he has been repeatedly cautioned against wearing khaki to plenary sessions.

“The ‘senator’ wear thing I need to clear it. I watched one analysis where it was said, ‘even Oshiomhole, power changes people. He no longer wears khaki.’ Do you know that I am not allowed, with all my human rights, to wear those khaki to the Senate because they have a dress code?” he explained.

He added that on a few occasions when he showed up in his signature attire, he was politely reminded that the National Assembly is not a “labour office.”

Oshiomhole noted that while some commentators assume his change in dress sense is due to the influence of political office, the reality is simply compliance with Senate rules and regulations.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
