OSHIOMHOLE ADVISES JONATHAN TO STAY OUT OF 2027 POLITICS
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to preserve his legacy by resisting pressure to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Oshiomhole said only those who do not wish Jonathan well would encourage him to re-enter the presidential race.
He, however, maintained that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would defeat the former president if he decided to contest.
“How can Jonathan be a threat? We defeated him before, when the PDP was still at its strongest. If a man had PDP at its peak, I think only his enemies would push him into the ring,” Oshiomhole said.
“That may not be helpful to him. I think he has shown that even out of power, one can still remain relevant and live in peace.
“If I were to advise him, I would say, ‘Sir, maintain this status.’ If I were him, I’d spend the rest of my life nurturing the relevance he has already achieved.”
Jonathan, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost the 2015 election to the late President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
