OPAY REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO FINANCIAL INCLUSION
OPay has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding financial inclusion in Nigeria through technology and digital financial services.
The company’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer, Dotun Adekunle, said OPay’s focus goes beyond processing transactions, with the fintech seeking to make digital financial services more accessible, reliable and useful to Nigerians.
Adekunle made the remarks during an OPay Live Town Hall in Lagos, where the company also addressed recent misinformation about its operations in Nigeria.
He said technology remains an important tool for connecting more people to financial services, particularly those who have traditionally faced barriers to accessing formal banking services.
OPay said its investment in technology is aimed at improving the speed, reliability and security of digital payments while building greater confidence among users.
The company also highlighted its wider contributions to education and youth development, including its 10-year, N1.2bn scholarship programme, which is being expanded to more tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Adekunle said OPay would continue investing in technology and other initiatives that support financial inclusion and participation in Nigeria’s digital economy.
The fintech, which began operations in Nigeria in 2018, said its long-term focus remains on providing secure and accessible digital financial services while supporting broader economic development.
