ONE KILLED IN SUSPECTED JUNGLE JUSTICE INCIDENT IN ABUJA’S OROZO COMMUNITY
The usually calm Orozo community in Abuja’s Federal Capital Territory was thrown into chaos early Thursday morning after a suspected case of jungle justice left one man dead.
The lifeless body of the unidentified victim was discovered near the popular Arab Junction, drawing a large crowd of residents who were unsure of exactly what had happened.
According to a local POS operator who spoke anonymously, the deceased was allegedly part of a 10-man gang that had been terrorising commercial motorcyclists (Okada riders) in the Angwan Sarki area. The gang reportedly targeted riders at night, stealing their motorcycles.
However, their latest attempt backfired when the riders fought back. While nine suspects managed to escape, one was caught by an angry mob and allegedly beaten to death on the spot.
Community sources say the area chief and youth leader quickly alerted the police. Although officers confirmed they were aware of the situation, they declined to provide further details, stating only that a full investigation is underway.
The incident has reignited conversations about vigilante justice and the dangers of taking the law into one’s own hands.
