ONDO: POLICE RESCUE FIVE PREGNANT GIRLS FROM BABY FACTORY, ARREST OPERATOR
Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have rescued five pregnant teenage girls from an illegal baby factory in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, the suspect, identified as Ada Clement, was arrested for allegedly operating the illicit facility and trafficking young girls for child-bearing and baby sales.
According to the police, one of the victims, 17-year-old Vivian Peter from Ikot Ekpan in Akwa Ibom State, reported the incident after she managed to escape from the facility. She had been lured to Ore under the pretext of being offered a job but discovered upon arrival that she had been deceived and confined with other pregnant girls.
Ayanlade disclosed that the suspect sold newborn babies for as much as ₦400,000 and above for female children, and ₦600,000 and above for male children. One of the victims reportedly delivered a baby boy while in the facility.
He said:
“The incident came to light on October 21, 2025, around 7:30 p.m., when the victim reported at the Ore Division after escaping. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, Ada Clement, and her accomplices had been running the baby factory where pregnant girls were kept until delivery, after which the babies were sold.”
The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect has confessed to the crime and is currently in custody, adding that efforts are underway to apprehend other accomplices involved in the syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case and assured that justice will be served.
He also warned that the command would not tolerate any form of human trafficking or exploitation, urging parents and guardians to be vigilant about the whereabouts of their children.
The rescued victims are now receiving medical care and rehabilitation under the supervision of the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
