ONDO MAN KILLS FRIEND OVER N20,000 DEBT, DUMPS BODY IN DRUM
Shock gripped residents of Kajola community in Ondo State after a 40-year-old man, Eze Elechi Amadi, was arraigned for allegedly killing his 21-year-old friend and housemate, Otu Ifeanyi, during a dispute over a N20,000 debt.
According to police investigators, Amadi accused Ifeanyi of withdrawing money from his account without paying back. What began as a quarrel quickly escalated into violence, with Amadi allegedly flogging the victim with a horsewhip and punching him repeatedly until he collapsed and died instantly.
In a desperate attempt to hide the crime, Amadi stuffed Ifeanyi’s body into a sack, placed it inside a blue plastic drum, and strapped it to his motorcycle. His plan to dump the corpse in a bush failed when the load slipped off the bike, forcing him to abandon both the drum and the motorcycle. A passerby returning from a night vigil later discovered the body and alerted police.
Amadi, who initially hid in the ceiling of his home, later surrendered to law enforcement. He has since been remanded at the Okitipupa Correctional Centre by order of Magistrate Odenusi Fadeyi, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. The case is adjourned to October 13, 2025 for further hearing.
