Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has described his state as the most peaceful in Nigeria.

Speaking with selected journalists during a media parley on Friday in Akure, the state capital, Aiyedatiwa said he “carries peace” and avoids unnecessary political noise.

He highlighted that no governor in Nigeria has ever won as many votes as he did in Ondo State, emphasizing that while politics can be noisy, he does not engage in empty rhetoric.

The governor also noted that Ondo State holds the world’s second-largest bitumen deposit after Canada. While bitumen exploration in the state is still limited, he promised significant development in the sector. Currently, two companies are exploring the deposits under licenses owned by the Ondo State government.

“It is not about talk and noise. I carry peace, and Ondo State is one of the most peaceful states in the country. Politics can be about noise, but I am not a noise maker,” Aiyedatiwa said.

He added, “Sometimes the people will make noise—the followers, the people on the street—when they see what you are doing. Drive around the streets of Akure, and you will hear people talking about it. I don’t need to blow my own trumpet; the people will speak for themselves.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
