ONDO BOOSTS SCHOOL SECURITY AS POLICE, AMOTEKUN DEPLOY PERSONNEL FOR RESUMPTION
Security agencies in Ondo State have increased their presence around schools as students return for a new academic session, with the Nigeria Police Force and Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, deploying personnel to help protect pupils, students and school communities.
The deployment is part of efforts to prevent criminal activities and ensure a safe environment for learning as schools across the state reopen. Security personnel are expected to maintain patrols around schools and other vulnerable areas while responding to reports of suspicious movements or security threats.
The Ondo State Police Command said its officers would work with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to strengthen security around educational institutions. The collaboration is also expected to improve information sharing and enable authorities to respond quickly to incidents that could threaten students, teachers or other members of the school community.
Amotekun operatives are similarly expected to support security operations across communities, particularly in areas where schools may be located close to forests or other vulnerable locations. The move reflects growing concerns over the safety of educational institutions and the need for security agencies to remain proactive rather than wait for incidents before responding.
Authorities have urged school administrators, parents, teachers and students to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies. The security arrangement is expected to continue as schools settle into the new academic term, with the police and Amotekun working together to maintain peace and protect lives and property across Ondo State.
