ONDO APC ELDERS URGE UNITY AMONG PARTY SUPPORTERS
Elders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State have urged supporters of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to avoid actions that could deepen divisions within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Ondo APC Elders Forum made the call on Wednesday during its monthly meeting in Akure.
The forum’s chairman, Demola Ijabiyi, acknowledged concerns over perceived differences between Aiyedatiwa and Tunji-Ojo but said both political leaders could operate separate political structures while pursuing common party objectives.
Ijabiyi described Aiyedatiwa as the APC leader in the state, responsible for mobilising party members across the 18 local government areas.
He also acknowledged Tunji-Ojo’s influence as a member of the Federal Executive Council and a prominent political figure from Ondo State.
The elders said separate political structures did not necessarily indicate a divided party, but warned that unhealthy rivalry or attempts to undermine one another could create tension.
They appealed to supporters of both leaders to avoid inflammatory statements and actions that could suggest an open conflict between the governor and the minister.
Ijabiyi said the forum would not take sides in any contest between the two politicians and would instead encourage cooperation among APC leaders and groups in the state.
He urged party members to focus on maintaining unity and supporting peaceful political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
