The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, has dismissed reports of a bandit attack in parts of the state, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement, the corps said there is no verified intelligence confirming any recent bandit invasion in Ondo, urging residents to disregard rumours capable of causing panic.

Security officials explained that the misinformation had triggered unnecessary fear in some communities, prompting a swift response to reassure the public.

Amotekun also announced the deployment of 24-hour patrols across strategic locations in the state to strengthen surveillance and prevent any potential security threats.

The agency said its operatives are working in collaboration with other security forces to maintain peace and ensure rapid response to any genuine incidents.

Residents were advised to remain calm, vigilant, and report suspicious activities to security authorities rather than circulate unverified information.

The development comes amid heightened sensitivity to security-related rumours in parts of Nigeria.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
