OMOBORTY: MONEY CAN DECORATE A WEDDING, NOT A MARRIAGE

Nollywood actress Omoborty has shared her thoughts on the rising trend of comparing weddings, stressing that the glamour of a ceremony does not determine the success of a marriage.

In an Instagram post, the actress cautioned couples against confusing wealth with taste, reminding them that marriage is ultimately about their happiness, not public approval.

“Money can decorate a hall, but it can’t decorate marriage. So let’s stop confusing money with taste. They are not the same thing. The level of a wedding doesn’t equate the success of the marriage… An intimate wedding does not mean there is no money, and an elaborate wedding does not automatically prove wealth,” she wrote.

Omoborty further pointed out that some couples even go into debt just to fund a flashy ceremony, only to struggle later in the marriage. She urged people to shift their focus away from societal pressure and embrace weddings that truly reflect their values and financial realities.

“Comparison truly irks me. People need to stop, abeg!!!” she concluded.

Her message has since sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that the quality of a marriage goes far beyond the size of the wedding.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
