Nigerian singer and songwriter Omawumi Megbele, popularly known as Omawumi, has spoken about her past relationships with the late rapper Dagrin and late producer Dokta Frabz.

There had long been rumours that the singer dated Dagrin following the release of their 2009 collaborative hit single, “Thank God.”

Speaking in a recent interview with Jay On Air, Omawumi clarified the speculation, stating that while she and Dagrin were close friends, they never dated.

“Dagrin was my guy, we used to hang out together. He was a fantastic person,” she said.

The Bottom Belle crooner, however, admitted that she once dated Dokta Frabz, describing him as a passionate and talented producer who played a significant role in her early career.

“I was drawn to Dokta Frabz because he was such a lover of music. He was incredibly talented. He would look into my eyes while singing and I would be cheering.

Because of that, I was always around him — in his studio. I met most of the music industry figures through Dokta Frabz. We actually dated,” Omawumi revealed.

Dagrin tragically passed away in April 2010 following a car accident in Lagos, while Dokta Frabz died in 2021 in the United States.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
