Nigerian Afrobeats singer Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has declared that prayers alone cannot save Nigeria, insisting that real change will only come when citizens take proactive action.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Omah Lay wrote,

“No Jesus, no Allah, no prayer is saving us. Nothing changes until we wake TF up.”

His statement comes as both Christian and Islamic leaders have been calling for prayers amid rising insecurity and economic challenges in the country.

Omah Lay’s comments reflect growing frustration among Nigerians, especially following recent violent incidents such as the terrorist attack on a church in Kwara State and the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.

Other celebrities, including Don Jazzy, Davido, Falz, and Mr Macaroni, have also expressed concern over the situation, urging authorities to take urgent action to restore safety and stability.

Similarly, singer Yemi Alade criticized calls for foreign intervention in Nigeria’s security matters, emphasizing that “African problems need African solutions, not new problems.”

Omah Lay’s remarks highlight a sentiment shared by many Nigerians: while prayers are important, concrete steps, accountability, and civic engagement are essential to address the country’s challenges.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
