The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has urged Nigerian youths to reject political violence as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The monarch made the call while speaking on the need for peaceful political participation and responsible conduct among young people.

Ladoja warned youths against allowing themselves to be used by politicians to cause violence or disrupt the electoral process. He encouraged them to participate actively in politics but to pursue their interests through lawful and peaceful means.

The Olubadan stressed that political disagreements should not lead to confrontation, noting that violence could have lasting consequences for individuals and communities.

He also called on political leaders to discourage their supporters from engaging in acts capable of threatening peace before, during and after the elections.

The monarch said youths have an important role to play in shaping the country’s political future and should use their numbers and influence responsibly.

He urged young Nigerians to focus on issues that affect their communities and the wider society while holding political leaders accountable through democratic means.

Ladoja’s comments come as political activities and preparations for the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum across the country.
