OLUBADAN ISSUES STRONG WARNING AS MASQUERADE FESTIVAL BEGINS IN IBADAN

The Olubadan of Ibadanland has issued a strong warning to residents and participants as the annual masquerade festival begins in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The traditional ruler urged all masquerade groups, organisers, and spectators to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid any actions that could threaten public safety or disrupt law and order.

He stressed that cultural celebrations should not be used as an excuse for violence, harassment, or the violation of residents’ rights, warning that anyone found causing trouble would face the consequences of their actions.

The monarch also called on security agencies and community leaders to remain vigilant throughout the festival and ensure that activities are carried out in a safe and orderly manner.

According to palace officials, the warning is intended to promote peaceful coexistence and preserve the cultural significance of the event while protecting lives and property.

Residents and visitors have been encouraged to cooperate with authorities and adhere to all guidelines put in place for the celebration.

The masquerade festival remains one of Ibadan’s notable cultural events, attracting participants and spectators from within and outside the state.
