Oba Ewuare II of Benin stated that his ancestors had brought Governor Monday Okpebholo to restore Edo State's lost glory.

The Oba made these comments during a visit from Governor Okpebholo to his palace in Benin, following the governor's victory at the Edo Governorship Election Tribunal, which upheld his election.

He referred to the governor as a true son of the land and prayed for blessings upon him and his family for thwarting the efforts of those trying to harm the state.

In an exceptional gesture, the Oba raised Okpebholo from his kneeling position, predicting that his administration would lead to increased development in the state.

In Edo language, Oba Ewuare stated, "All will be well with you, your wife, and children. Your arrival in Edo has been blessed by our ancestors."

“Our ancestors brought you to restore the lost glory of Edo State, which evil doers wanted to ruin. We have been praying, and we will continue to pray for you, not to allow evil forces to destroy Edo.”

In response, Okpebholo expressed his gratitude to Oba Ewuare for his kindness and prayers on behalf of both him and Edo State.

He described his victory as “sweetest judgement ever” in history, noting that the three-member panel were unanimous in the judgement.

The governor added, “This is the first time we have seen a judgment where all the judges agreed that Monday Okpebholo won the election.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
