Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has threatened to arrest the contractor handling a section of the Benin-Abraka Road over the alleged abandonment of the project after payment.

Okpebholo issued the warning during an inspection of the failed section of the road at Ikpe Waterside in Orhionmwon Local Government Area. (punchng.com)

The governor expressed concern over the condition of the road and questioned why the project had remained incomplete despite previous government funding.

He said the state government would take steps to address the situation and ensure that contractors handling public projects meet their obligations.

The Benin-Abraka Road is an important route linking communities in Edo and Delta states and is used by motorists and businesses operating along the corridor.

The Edo State Government had earlier approved the revocation and re-award of the contract for the affected section, following concerns over the project’s condition.
