OKPEBHOLO SETS FIVE-MINUTE SECURITY RESPONSE TARGET ACROSS EDO

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has assured residents that his administration is putting measures in place to enable security agencies respond to threats anywhere in the state within five minutes. The governor gave the assurance during a Sunday service at Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel, along Sapele Road in Benin City, as he outlined plans to strengthen the state’s security architecture.

Okpebholo said his administration was determined to make Edo significantly safer within the next month, particularly by improving the speed at which security agencies respond to emergencies. He also disclosed that dedicated emergency telephone numbers would soon be made available to the public, urging residents experiencing security threats or other emergencies to use the channels to seek immediate assistance.

The governor said the government’s security strategy would focus on tackling kidnapping, robbery and other criminal activities across the state. He stressed that the administration wanted residents to be able to go about their daily activities and businesses without fear, adding that efforts were already being made to improve the overall security situation in Edo.

The governor also used the occasion to thank the church for its prayers and support for his administration. Pastor Emmanuel Ebiye, who received Okpebholo at the service, commended the governor’s development efforts and thanked him for providing food items, including rice and cooking oil, to churches for distribution to members.

On infrastructure, Okpebholo said the procurement process for several road projects across the state was nearing completion and that construction would begin soon. He said contractors would be expected to continue working during the rainy season in order to accelerate project delivery. The governor also urged residents to continue praying for President Bola Tinubu, linking the Federal Government’s removal of fuel subsidy to increased funding available for road infrastructure development.
