OKPEBHOLO PROMISES SPEEDY COMPLETION OF 83 DIVISION FACILITIES IN EDO
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has assured that temporary facilities for the 83 Division of the Nigerian Army in Benin will be completed within the next two weeks.
Okpebholo gave the assurance on Monday during an inspection of ongoing rehabilitation and development work at the facility in Teboga, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state.
The governor said work had commenced at the site, including environmental sanitation, rehabilitation of existing structures and other preparations required for the division’s operationalisation.
He added that the contractor had promised to deploy additional bulldozers to accelerate the pace of work and ensure timely completion of the facilities.
The 83 Division is one of four new Nigerian Army divisions approved by President Bola Tinubu, alongside divisions in Makurdi, Ilorin and Jalingo.
Okpebholo said Edo State was fully prepared to host the new division, noting that alternative temporary office spaces were also available if needed.
Commander of the 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Ahmed Balogun, commended the governor for providing the temporary facility and said the Army was working to ensure the division becomes operational within the shortest possible time.
