Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has assured residents that security agencies will be able to respond to distress calls within five minutes across the state.

The governor said his administration was putting measures in place to improve the speed of security responses and strengthen the protection of lives and property.

Okpebholo said the planned response system would rely on improved security coordination and measures designed to ensure that security personnel can quickly reach locations where threats are reported.

He maintained that security remained a major priority of his administration and that his government would continue to invest in measures aimed at tackling criminal activities and protecting residents.

The governor’s pledge comes amid ongoing concerns over insecurity in parts of Edo State, particularly incidents involving kidnapping and other violent crimes.

Earlier efforts by the administration have included increased investment in security equipment, intelligence gathering and collaboration among security agencies.

Okpebholo said the government would continue working with security agencies to strengthen the state’s security architecture and improve their ability to respond to emerging threats.

The five-minute response target is expected to form part of the state’s broader efforts to improve emergency response and reassure residents about the safety of their communities.
